What to expect from a North East 10k
The Sunderland City Runs weekend in May pairs a 10K with a half marathon on closed city roads from Keel Square, and Newcastle's Quayside and Exhibition Park host regular 10Ks that draw runners from across Tyneside. Along the coast, South Shields, Whitley Bay and Hartlepool give you flat promenade courses, while inland the Tees valley around Darlington and Middlesbrough has a busy diary of club races. Spring and early autumn are the peak months, with summer evening 10Ks in between. Most events list a 5K or fun run alongside the 10K; the race page shows every distance with a link to the official entry.
