Branches & Bays 10K : 08th August 2027
Branches & Bays is a 10 km trail race organised by Trail Outlaws as part of the Urban Trails series. The route starts at Noses Point in Seaham, County Durham, and passes through Hawthorn Dene, a Durham Wildlife Trust and National Trust managed woodland, before following the coastal sections known as Hawthorn Hive and The Blast Beach. The course lies within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The route is marked and taped with marshals at key points. Navigation remains the runner’s responsibility. Total ascent is approximately 660 feet and total descent approximately 620 feet. There is a mandatory checkpoint at four miles where sweets and water are available; water is also provided at the finish. The event enforces a strict overall cut off of two hours.
Safety cover includes first aid equipment at the checkpoint and paramedic and ambulance provision at the start/finish area; the nearest local hospital is Sunderland Royal Hospital. Mandatory kit requires shoes suitable for the ground conditions. Earphone use is restricted at road crossings, checkpoints, when marshals are present, and on narrow single-file sections; speakers are not allowed.
Entry benefits listed for participants include a bespoke medal, electronic timing and instant online results, free event parking, digital photography, and the option to purchase a race t-shirt. Prizes are awarded to male and female finishers across senior and veteran age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
