Durham City Run Festival
The Durham City Run Festival is a multi-day running event. The main races are a 5K and a 10K, both held on a Thursday evening in July. The event is described as a midsummer evening run through historic streets, with the finish line at Palace Green. The course passes by landmarks including the 900-year-old Durham Cathedral and runs along the River Wear.
The festival also includes a separate event on the Saturday called Families on Track. This is a relay event for family teams, held at Durham Racecourse. Teams must have 3 to 5 members, including at least one adult over 18 and at least one member under 16. The minimum age to participate is 4.
All finishers of the Thursday evening races receive a medal and a goody bag. The event provides electronic chip timing, a secure baggage drop, and post-race massage. Age category prizes are awarded for the top three men and women, as well as the first finisher in the V40, V50, V60, and V70 categories.
Entry prices are higher after an early bird deadline. A discount is available for UK Athletics club members. The event address is the Radisson Blu Hotel in Durham. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
