Durham City Run Festival
Durham City Run Festival stages evening road races through Durham city centre and a family team relay at Durham Racecourse. The programme includes a Thursday evening 5K and 10K that run past the city’s historic landmarks, along narrow cobbled streets and beside the River Wear, with the 900-year-old Cathedral and the World Heritage Site as a backdrop. Both the 5K and 10K finish at Palace Green.
Event services include a medal and goody bag for all finishers, secure baggage drop, electronic chip timing and post-race massage. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to the first finishers in veteran categories V40, V50, V60 and V70.
A family team relay called Families on Track takes place on Saturday at Durham Racecourse. Teams cost a fixed fee and must consist of three to five members, with at least one team member under 16, at least one over 18, and a team captain over 18. Minimum ages are 12 for the 5K, 15 for the 10K and 4 for Families on Track teams.
