About the race
Saturn Running stages the GNR & Time Turner event on Sunday 29 August 2027 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The event is a licensed trail run held under UK Athletics rules and runs along a signed section of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral.
This is a seven hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose how many laps to complete. The minimum distance is 3 km. A full lap measures 4.37 miles (about 7 km) and may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The lap includes 3 km and 5 km turn points to accommodate age-related UK Athletics distance rules. Laps required for common distances are 3 for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or more for an ultra; a 50 km option is also available.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal; distance pins are awarded for half-marathon and longer distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start/finish of each lap, with vegan options. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. Bag drop is unstaffed and left at participants’ own risk. Pay and display parking is available nearby; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Headphones are allowed.
