Northumberland Festival of Sport : Druridge Bay Country Park
The Northumberland Festival of Sport is a two-day multisport event held 12–13 June 2027 at Druridge Bay Country Park on the Northumberland coast. The programme combines junior aquathlon, open-water swims, trail runs, aquathlon, aquabike and triathlon races, including sprint and standard distances. The standard distance triathlon is a British Triathlon age-group qualifier for the 2027 European Standard Distance Triathlon Championships in Kitzbühel. Registration opens November 2026.
Race distances include:
- Tristar Start (age 8) Swim 100m, Run 600m
- Tristar 1 (ages 9-10) Swim 200m, Run 1100m
- Tristar 2 (ages 11-12) Swim 300m, Run 1600m
- Tristar 3 (ages 13-14) Swim 400m, Run 2100m
- Open water swims 750m, 1.5km and 3km
- Trail runs 5K and 10K
- Sprint triathlon 750m swim, 19km bike, 5.2km run
- Standard triathlon 1.5km swim, 38km bike, 10.4km run
- Sprint and standard aquabike and aquathlon at the same swim and run distances
The swim takes place in Ladyburn Lake, a shallow freshwater lake within the park. The bike route uses a coastal road out of the park and the run is a multi-lap footpath through nearby woods and meadows. The country park facilities include a café, visitor centre, play area, sheltered picnic areas and camping, caravanning and motorhome facilities. Minimum ages are set by category: children's events, 15 for sprint distance and 17 for standard distance on 31 December 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
