Northumberland Festival of Sport 2026
The Northumberland Festival of Sport takes place over a weekend in late May at Druridge Bay Country Park, Morpeth NE61 5BX, Great Britain. The event programme covers open water swims, junior aquathlon races, and adult triathlon, aquathlon and aquabike events.
Junior and open water distances include:
- TriStar Start (age 8): Swim 100 m, Run 600 m
- TriStar 1 (ages 9 to 10): Swim 200 m, Run 1100 m
- TriStar 2 (ages 11 to 12): Swim 300 m, Run 1600 m
- TriStar 3 (ages 13 to 14): Swim 400 m, Run 2100 m
Open water swim challenge distances:
- 750 m
- 1.5 km
- 3 km
Adult multisport distances include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 m swim / 19 km bike / 5.2 km run
- Standard Triathlon: 1.5 km swim / 38 km bike / 10.4 km run
- Sprint and Standard Aquabike and Aquathlon distances follow the same swim and run or bike lengths
The swim takes place in Ladyburn Lake, a shallow freshwater lake within the park. The bike course leaves the Country Park along a coastal route near Druridge Bay and the run is a multi lap route on footpaths around the lake. The Country Park is adjacent to Druridge Bay and is used for cycling, running, swimming, walking, paddling and surfing.
Non BTF athletes entering Junior or Adult Triathlon Aquabike or Aquathlon events must purchase a BTF race pass. Open water swim challenge competitors on Saturday do not need a BTF licence.
