Format and rules
At registration, participants hand over electronic devices and navigational aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag. Participants are transported to an undisclosed drop-off location and wear a blackout blindfold or an approved alternative. From the drop-off, participants must make their own way back to the event centre; distances are measured as the crow flies and the actual route may be longer. No map, no GPS, no compass, and no outside help are allowed unless organisers provide a map. Recording devices must remain sealed in the emergency bag during the event. Breaking the emergency bag seal, using unauthorised maps, or taking shortcuts leads to disqualification.
Tracking and practical information
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional feature and is not included in the entry fee. Trackers are said to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings or signal black spots; placement in an outside pocket is recommended. All trackers must be returned or a £175 replacement fee applies. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is about a 10 minute walk and the bus station about 5 minutes from the event HQ.
