Event Overview
Middlesbrough Runs features the Middlesbrough 10 km and the Ali Brownlee 5 km. These races take place on a flat and fast town-centre course that is entirely traffic-free. The route passes through several local landmarks, including the Riverside stadium and Centre Square. The event is an evolution of the historical Tees Pride 10 km and is organized by Events of the North.
Course and Distances
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 10 km: Open to runners aged 15 and older.
- 5 km: Open to runners aged 11 and older.
The course is designed with electronic chip timing to provide accurate start and finish times for every participant. Marshals and directional signage are positioned at all key junctions to guide runners along the closed public roads.
Participant Information
Registered runners receive a race pack via post containing a race number, timing chip, and an information leaflet. On the day of the event, facilities such as a secure baggage drop and water stations are provided along the route and at the finish line. An event village is located in Centre Square, featuring stalls from partners and various activities.
The event recognizes top performers with prizes for the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in the V40, V50, and V60 age categories. All participants who complete their respective distances receive a medal and a goody bag.
Logistics
Middlesbrough central train station is located approximately a 10-minute walk from the start area at Centre Square.
