Darlington 10k and running events

The event takes place on Sunday 1 August 2027 in Market Square and includes multiple runs for different ages and abilities. Entry is online and by advance registration only.

Race packs are collection only from the Up & Running High Row store, with earlier collection windows and confirmation sent to entrants; uncollected packs can be collected from the race desk on the day, with a recommendation to arrive at least two hours before the run. Each race number has a timing chip attached to the back; the chip records times at the start and finish and should not be folded, cut, pierced or otherwise damaged. A replacement race number can be issued at the race desk for a £5 cash charge.

The course uses public roads which will be closed for the duration of the event. Runners must generally keep to the left side of the carriageway; on the second lap runners will be instructed to move to the right side of Coniscliffe Road only. A new cycle lane on part of Woodlands Road has a lip curb; runners should take care and must not use the cycle path. Course signage and marshals will be posted at key junctions, and runners start in waves with allocations communicated in advance.

Water is available at designated stations and at the finish. Bone conducting headphones are permitted; in-ear or over-ear headphones are not. Pets and run buggies are not allowed in the 10k, 5k or Junior 3k; pushchairs are permitted on the Family Fun Run. Luggage storage will be provided at the Dolphin Centre, and portable toilets plus additional facilities at the Indoor Market Hall will be available near Market Square. First aid responders, race doctors and ambulance personnel will provide medical cover along the route. Cash and voucher prizes are available. The event is organised by Darlington Borough Council.
