AJ Bell Great North 10k - 5 July 2026
The AJ Bell Great North 10k takes place in Newcastle city centre on 5 July 2026. The event distance is 10k. Entries are open and the published entry prices show a saver price of £35 and final entries at £40, with a booking fee of £3.00 per entry. Runners must be aged 15 or over on the day to enter.
Event and route information
The start and finish are on Great North Road. The city centre route passes several landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge, and finishes on the Town Moor where an event village with music and food vendors will be located. The course profile notes the first couple of kilometres are downhill, followed by about 1.5 km flat, then approximately 4.5 km of twisty, uphill running, and a final flat 2 km to the finish. Road closures will be in place for the event.
Race numbers, which include timing chips and are personalised with the runner’s name, are posted 1-2 weeks before the run; late or overseas entries must collect numbers from the information point on the Town Moor. Baggage facilities are available on the Town Moor. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a slower wave by assembling with it but may not move to a faster wave. Entertainment includes a DJ at the start and finish and music at motivation stations along the route. The organiser provides event-day tracking via the Great Run app, official event photos, a medal, a finisher’s bag, and a finisher t-shirt option; runners who opt out of the finisher t-shirt at entry trigger a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal (the organiser states a donation commitment of approximately £20,000). The event partners with the Newcastle United Foundation and offers a black and white wave open to any runner who selects it during entry.
