The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a city centre road race held on 5 July 2026. The course starts and finishes on Great North Road and passes several Newcastle landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge. An event village on the Town Moor provides post-race music and food vendors.
The route profile includes a downhill opening section of a few kilometres, followed by about 1.5 km of flat running, roughly 4.5 km of twisty uphill running, and a final flat 2 km to the finish. Organisers provide audio entertainment along the course, including a DJ at the start and finish and music at motivation stations, plus spectator support in the city centre.
Entrants must be aged 15 or older on race day for the 10k. The published entry cost is £40 with a booking fee of £3 per entry. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may assemble with a slower wave to move back but cannot move to a faster wave.
Practical information includes baggage facilities on the Town Moor, a race number that contains a timing chip and is posted about four weeks before the event, and a free event day tracking app for live tracking, split times and results. Finishers receive a medal, an optional finisher t shirt and a finisher bag. The event partners with the Newcastle United Foundation and includes a special black and white wave open to all.
