About the race
The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a city centre road race held in Newcastle on 4 July 2027. The course covers 10 km and passes well known city landmarks, including views of the Tyne Bridge, before finishing near the event village on the Town Moor.
On-course features include a DJ set at the Great North Road start and finish, motivation stations with music, and sections of crowd support along the route. The event offers a live tracking app, official event photos, and free training plans for the 10 km distance.
Finishers receive a medal and an exclusive event t-shirt. The event attracts thousands of runners each summer and includes festival-style elements in the event village after the race.
The race partners with the Newcastle United Foundation. To mark the partnership there is a black and white wave on race day; runners who wish to join that wave can wear a special black and white striped run number.
