Event Overview

The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a road running event scheduled for the 5th of July, 2026. The race takes place in Newcastle, England.

Course Details

The 10-kilometre course is a city centre route. It passes landmarks including the Tyne Bridge. The course profile includes a downhill start for the first couple of kilometres, followed by a 1.5 km flat section. This is succeeded by approximately 4.5 km of "twisty, uphill running," and finishes with a final 2 km flat section to the finish line on Great North Road.

On-Course Features

The event includes a DJ set at the start and finish line, and motivation stations with music along the route. There is crowd support in the city centre.

Post-Race and Amenities

A finish area with an event village is located on the Town Moor. Participants receive a finisher's medal, an exclusive finisher t-shirt, and a bag of goodies. Official event photos are available for purchase. A free event day tracking app is provided. Race numbers are personalised with the runner's name and include a timing chip. They are posted 1-2 weeks before the event, with late or overseas entries collected from an information point on the Town Moor. Baggage facilities are available on the Town Moor.

Entry Information

The event is open to runners aged 15 and over on race day. Entry fees are listed as "Standard £37" and "FinalEntries £40." A booking fee of £3.00 per entry is applied at checkout. Participants can choose to forgo the finisher t-shirt at entry; in this case, a donation is made to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal.
