AJ Bell Great North 10k
The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a city centre road race in Newcastle, held over a 10 km distance. The route starts and finishes on Great North Road and passes several city landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge and Grey’s Monument. The course includes a pace across the Tyne Bridge, a short stretch along the Central Motorway, and the final three kilometres run along the edge of the Town Moor, where the finish is located.
Race numbers contain timing chips and are posted from about four weeks before the event; entries made on or after 24 June and overseas entries must collect race packs at the event information point on the Town Moor. Baggage facilities are available on the Town Moor and participants should attach the baggage label from their race number. The minimum age to enter is 15 years.
Event services include a free Great Run event day app for runner tracking, on-course photography and results, free training plans, DJ sets at the start and finish on Great North Road, motivation stations with music along the route, and a post-race event village with music and food vendors. Finishers receive a medal, an optional finisher t-shirt, and a finisher’s bag. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a slower wave on race day but may not move to a faster wave. Road closures will affect travel to the start area.
