AJ Bell Great North 10k - 05 July 2026
The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a city-centre road race in Newcastle that covers a 10 km course showcasing local landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge. The race starts and finishes on Great North Road and has an event village on the Town Moor where post-race music and food vendors are located.
The course profile includes a downhill opening for the first couple of kilometres, a 1.5 km flat section, about 4.5 km of twisty uphill running, and a final flat 2 km to the finish. Race numbers include a timing chip and are typically posted out from around four weeks before the event; last-minute or overseas entries collect numbers at the Town Moor information point.
On-course entertainment includes a DJ at the start and finish, motivation stations with music, and crowd support through the city centre. The event provides baggage facilities on the Town Moor and wave starts allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a slower wave by assembling with that later wave but cannot move to a faster wave.
Additional features include free event-day tracking via the Great Run app, free training plans, a personalised run number option, a finisher medal, an exclusive finishers t-shirt, and a finisher’s bag. Entries for the 10 km are open to runners aged 15 and over on race day and a booking fee of £3 is applied per entry. The event has a partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation and offers a black and white wave open to supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
