AJ Bell Great North 10k : Newcastle, 5 July 2026

The AJ Bell Great North 10k is a city centre 10 km road race in Newcastle that passes notable local landmarks including the Tyne Bridge. The course starts and finishes on Great North Road and is routed through central streets, finishing close to the Town Moor event village.

The route profile comprises the first couple of kilometres downhill, followed by about 1.5 km of flat running, roughly 4.5 km of twisty uphill sections and a final flat 2 km to the finish. Road closures are put in place for the event. Waves are used on race day; waves are allocated by estimated time and runners may move to a slower wave but not to a faster one.

Entries are open to runners aged 15 and over on the day for the 10 km distance. Race numbers with timing chips are normally posted from about four weeks before the event; late or overseas entries made after the postage cutoff must collect race packs from the information point on the Town Moor. Baggage facilities are available on the Town Moor.

Event services include official timing and results, an event day tracking app with split times and photos, official event day photography, a finisher medal, an optional finisher t-shirt and a finisher bag. The event partners include the Newcastle United Foundation, which has a dedicated black and white wave open to supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
