Event details
The AJ Bell Great North 10k takes place on 5 July 2026 in Newcastle. The event distance is 10k and entries are open. Entry prices shown are a saver price of £35 and a final entry price of £40. A booking fee of £3.00 is applied at checkout. Runners must be aged 15 or over on the day to enter. The event partners with the Newcastle United Foundation and includes a black and white wave open to any runner who wishes to join.
Route and race day
The start and finish are on Great North Road and the course runs through the city centre, crossing the Tyne Bridge and passing several city landmarks. The route profile describes the first couple of kilometres as downhill, followed by 1.5 km flat, about 4.5 km of twisty uphill running, and a final flat 2 km to the finish. There will be music and entertainment on the course, including a DJ at the start and finish and music at motivation stations. Road closures will be in place for the event. An event village on the Town Moor will offer music and food vendors.
Entries, kit and services
Race numbers, which include the timing chip, are posted 1-2 weeks before the event; late or overseas entries collect numbers at the Town Moor information point. Baggage facilities are on the Town Moor. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may assemble with a slower wave but cannot move to a faster wave. The event offers official photos, app-based event tracking, a medal, an exclusive finisher t-shirt (optional), a finisher bag, and access to runner discounts and free training plans. The organiser will donate a portion of fulfilment costs when runners forgo a finisher tee and commits to an approximate donation amount.
