Souter Lighthouse Summer Trail Runs
The Souter Lighthouse Summer Trail Runs take place on Wednesday 7th July 2027 around Souter Lighthouse and The Leas, South Tyneside (Coast Road, Sunderland, SR6 9AA). The routes run along coastal paths, open grassland, clifftop tracks and firm paths. Coastal sections can be exposed and conditions underfoot may vary with the weather. Route maps will be published closer to the event.
Distances
- 5 km Trail Run: shorter coastal route for beginners and first-time trail runners.
- 10 km Trail Run: scenic coastal route with clifftop paths and open grassland.
The event is canicross friendly. One well-controlled dog per runner is permitted and dogs must remain on a lead at all times; runners should ensure their dog is comfortable with the chosen distance and other participants. All runners receive live chip timing provided by Timing Up North. Every finisher will be given a bespoke event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a post-race snack and drink. A custom event T-shirt is available for an extra £14 during registration. There is limited car parking at Souter Lighthouse and parking requires payment if not a National Trust member.
