Bristol's harbourside and Bath's Georgian streets host the big urban races, Bournemouth and Plymouth run along the seafront, and Exeter sits within reach of both Dartmoor and the Jurassic Coast. Further west, Cornwall's cliff paths and the Cotswolds around Cheltenham and Gloucester mean that even the road 10Ks here come with hills, sea air or both.

10ks worth knowing in the South West
The Great Bristol Run in May puts a 10K next to its half marathon on closed roads around the city centre and the harbourside, and Run Bournemouth in October has a flat 10K from Hengistbury Head to Bournemouth Pier alongside its half marathon. Plymouth's Hoe is the start and finish for the city's 10K in May, and Bath, Exeter and Swindon all have well-supported local races. The trail side is strong here too: Dartmoor, Exmoor and the South West Coast Path host 10Ks that are slow on the clock and memorable everywhere else.
