Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge : event overview

The Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge takes place in the Cotswolds with a Cirencester basecamp on 13-14 June 2026. The main route is a looped 100 km course that starts and finishes at Cirencester basecamp and passes along the Cotswold Way, footpaths and local villages. The full continuous 100 km option has about 2,250 m of climb. The event offers supported marquees, medical and massage teams, a signed route with GPS tracking, and catering at regular rest stops.

Distances, formats and support

  • 100 km - full continuous loop, ~2250 m climb
  • 100 km (2-day) - Day 1: 53 km, ~1600 m; Day 2: 47 km, ~650 m
  • ~76 km (3/4 challenge) - Painswick to Cirencester, ~1650 m climb
  • ~53 km (1st half) - Cirencester to Wotton, ~1600 m climb
  • ~47 km (2nd half) - Wotton to Cirencester, ~650 m climb
  • ~30 km (2nd quarter) - Painswick to Wotton, ~1000 m climb
  • ~23 km (1st quarter) - Cirencester to Painswick, ~600 m climb
  • 10 km - Cirencester loop

Rest stops are provided approximately every 12.5 km, with larger stops every ~25 km. Snacks and drinks are available at regular intervals and main meals at the larger stops. Camping and hostel options are available at the Cirencester basecamp, with an optional campsite near the half way point for the two-day option. The event includes shuttle buses and parking. Special entry categories include an Ultra March for walkers (100 km under 24 hours or 50 km under 12 hours) and the new Trailblazerz category for faster runners (time targets vary by distance and ascent).
