Cheddar Gorge Challenge
The Cheddar Gorge Challenge is a day of off road races held on 14 June 2026 near Warren Farm, Charterhouse, Somerset BS40 7XR. The event offers a range of distances and a separate Omnium multi-event that combines a long distance race with a 100 m sprint, a 1 km middle distance and a hill climb run.
Distances include:
- 1 km
- 3 km
- 6 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
The organiser uses wave starts of about 100 runners to space participants. The marathon has a 3 hour cut off to start lap two. Omnium competitors who choose the half marathon as their long distance race must finish that run in 3 hours 15 minutes to be ready for the next Omnium events. Other distances have no formal cut offs; pure walking entries are not accepted.
Course information and facilities: routes are well marked and marshalled, with a mix of open fields, flat stone paths and technical rocky sections. Feed stations provide water, electrolyte and a selection of food including gluten free, dairy free and vegan options; the number of stations increases with distance. On site parking is available with a small charge to the landowner, and camping is offered through the site host. There are toilets, coffee and food vans, and a bag drop. Buggy and canicross entries are not suitable for these routes.
Finishers of 6 km and longer receive a large two sided medal. Race results are published the evening of the event and professional race photos are available to purchase shortly after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
