Cheddar Gorge Challenge 2026
The Cheddar Gorge Challenge is a trail running event held at Warren Farm in the Somerset levels. The course features various terrains including rocky paths, steep ascents, and descents, with views of the Bristol Channel and surrounding valleys. Participants can choose from several individual distances or take part in the Omnium, a multi-event competition inspired by track cycling that combines four different running challenges in one day.
Available distances and categories include:
- Marathon: A two-lap course with a three-hour cut-off to start the second lap.
- Half Marathon: A single-lap course featuring significant elevation.
- 10km: A route with various climbs and downhill sections.
- 6km: A mixed route with views of the gorge.
- 3km Fun Run: Open to participants aged 10 and over.
- 1km Fun Run: Short distance event.
- Gold Omnium: Includes a Half Marathon, 1km, 100m sprint, and a Hill Climb.
- Silver Omnium: Includes a 10km, 1km, 100m sprint, and a Hill Climb.
- Bronze Omnium: Includes a 6km, 1km, 100m sprint, and a Hill Climb.
The routes are marked and marshalled throughout. Marathon and Half Marathon runners will encounter the Hell Steps as part of the hilly terrain. The event provides several aid stations depending on the distance, ranging from one station on the 6km route to nine stations for the Marathon.
All participants in the 6km and longer distances receive a finisher's medal. The event also includes electronic timing, a buffet of fresh fruit and treats, and prizes for category winners.
