Giants Head Weekend
Giants Head Weekend takes place in the village of Sydling St Nicholas in Dorset. This event centers on the local community, with activities and races spread across a single weekend in June. The routes run through the Sydling and Cerne valleys, featuring hilly terrain with steep climbs and sharp descents. These are marked off-road courses through the local countryside.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Marathon (7.5-hour cut-off)
- Half Marathon (4-hour cut-off)
- 10 km
- LittleFeet Bell Race (a hill run involving a task and a bell)
The event includes several community features, such as a barn dance held in the village hall and communal evening meals available by pre-order. Camping is offered on-site for both Friday and Saturday nights for tents and campervans. Facilities include toilets in the camping field and showers located at the village hall.
Runners are required to carry at least 500ml of fluid and are advised to use a GPX file for navigation. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, though participants can opt to have a tree planted through the Trees Not Tees organization instead. A bag drop is available on race days, and aid stations are positioned along the courses. Canicross entries are not permitted for this event.
