About the race
Giants Head Marathon Weekend takes place on 19 and 20 June 2027 in Sydling St Nicholas, Dorchester. The event includes races across two days, village evening meals and weekend camping. The organiser reports the event received a Gold Award in 2026.
Saturday features a Marathon and a 10K; Sunday features a Half Marathon and the LittleFeet Bell Race. The LittleFeet Bell Race invites children and adults to climb to the top of a hill, complete a short task, then run downhill while wearing a bell.
Routes run through the Sydling and Cerne valleys and include steep climbs and sharp descents. Runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid and are advised to carry clothing appropriate for changing conditions. Organisers recommend downloading the route GPX file to a wearable device; the course is marked but arrows can be tampered with.
Facilities listed for the weekend include a bag drop tent each race day, several aid stations, on-course photographers, and race T-shirts available to pre-order. Camping is available Friday and Saturday nights; one pitch accommodates the listed tent or campervan combinations and one vehicle, with no electric hook up. Evening meals are available to pre-order for Friday and Saturday. Canicross entries are not accepted.
