Giants Head Weekend
Giants Head Marathon Weekend takes place in Sydling St Nicholas, Dorchester, Dorset. Organizers use the village hall as event base and the routes run through the Sydling and Cerne valleys. The event includes community meals provided by the village and an evening barn dance in the village hall.
The weekend programme comprises several timed races plus a family-focused hill event. Routes are on trail and involve steep climbs and sharp descents; the course is fully waymarked and aid stations are supplied. A bag drop tent is available on each race day. Runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid and are advised to carry weather-appropriate clothing. Organizers recommend downloading the GPX file of the route for navigation.
Camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights, priced per pitch and including toilet facilities in the camping field and showers at the village hall. Camping permits allow one vehicle per pitch and there is no electric hook up. Event T-shirts are available to pre-order for collection at Event HQ. The event offers an option to plant a tree instead of receiving a finishers medal through Trees Not Tees.
