Big Beach Challenge
The Big Beach Challenge takes place on 12 June 2027 at Weymouth Beach, Dorset. It is a sand-based obstacle course with two route options and a mix of beach and inland terrain.
- 5km out and back along the beach
- 10km route extending inland with gentle inclines
Participants will tackle a variety of obstacles that include climbing, scrambling, carrying and crawling, with possible splashes. The terrain includes sand, pavements, grass and dirt tracks. Route and obstacle details are subject to change while planning is finalised.
Entry is available for individuals and teams. Specific fees and fundraising targets are:
- 5km course: registration fee £25, fundraising target £180.
- 10km course: registration fee £30, fundraising target £200. When a participant reaches their fundraising target, an Alzheimer’s Society t-shirt will be sent approximately four to eight weeks before the event; late recipients can collect a t-shirt on the day. Team fundraising totals can be combined, and each team member must register separately.
Minimum age to take part is 14. Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is also registered. For safety, one adult may supervise up to two participants aged 14–15 or up to three participants aged 16–17.
Expect wet and muddy obstacles. Wear light, comfortable clothing and closed toe trainers and bring a spare change of clothing. Do not wear studded, spiked or steel toed footwear or valuables. Participants may skip any obstacle they cannot or do not want to complete. There are no facilities to leave belongings on site.
