Thornbury 10k
The Thornbury 10k is a midweek evening road race held on rolling country lanes around Oldbury. The route covers a 10 km distance and runs through rural lanes with scenic views. The course starts a short walk or brief jog from Oldbury Sailing Club and finishes at the Anchor pub.
Entries are available only through Full on Sport and there are no on-the-day entries. The minimum age for entry is 18 years. Guide runners supporting visually impaired (VI) athletes may enter free of charge when using the organiser’s guide code; organisers match guide and VI entries during entry. Timing is by gun to chip. Individual prizes are awarded across 16 main categories and an ARC permit has been applied for. Entrants are responsible for arranging any transfer of their entry if they cannot run.
Race HQ is at Oldbury Sailing Club (Oldbury-on-Severn, South Gloucester, BS35 1QA). Parking at the club is on a first come, first served basis and there are no public car parks in Oldbury. There are no changing room or shower facilities. Registration and number collection take place at the Sailing Club and the club accepts no responsibility for missing or damaged items left in bags. The start is a short walk or jog from the HQ. There is one water station on course. An expected run time of about 1.5 hours is noted; a sweep runner will be present while marshals remain for part of the event and signage is left in place.
The event forms part of a three-race series with the Riverbank Rollick and the Oldbury 10 mile. Series entry includes a £10 discount when taken at first entry and a prize for the cumulative fastest woman and man. For 2025, finishers receive a multi-layer wooden medal that links with the medals from the other series events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
