The 10k race calendar for Ireland: 88 races in 2026 and 2027, with dates, start locations and entry links. The 10k is the workhorse of Irish road running: the distance of the county road race, the charity run and the club championship, quick enough to fit around a Saturday morning and long enough to tell you what shape you are in. The season builds through spring, fills up in summer with midweek evening races, and peaks in September and October before the winter leagues take over. What is in this calendar
Every race here has a 10k among its distances, usually on the road, now and then on forest tracks or a park loop. Many 10ks share a day with a 5k or a half marathon, and some are one leg of a race series; the race page lists all the distances with start times and a link to the official entry. After an 8k or a 10-mile instead? Nudge the distance slider at the top of the page and the selection opens up. Look for an Athletics Ireland permit if you want a measured course and a time that counts for club rankings.
The Irish 10k season
There is hardly a weekend without a 10k somewhere in the country. Spring brings the first big fields, often as a stepping stone towards a summer half marathon or the autumn marathons. From May to August the calendar shifts to Tuesday and Thursday evenings, when club-organised 10ks in market towns and along the coast draw a few hundred locals and finish with tea in the community hall. September and October are the peak, with the largest city races and the fastest conditions of the year, and December keeps things ticking over with festive runs and turkey trots. Entries for the popular races close weeks ahead, so book early.
10ks around Ireland
In Dublin, Phoenix Park is the capital's classic race venue and the backdrop for many of its 10ks, while the Dublin Race Series opens each July with the Fingal 10K in Swords before building towards the marathon in October. Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford each have well-supported 10ks of their own, and the smaller towns along the Wild Atlantic Way put on some of the most scenic courses in the country. Wherever you race, the calendar shows the start location and links straight to the organiser for entry.
