The region's 10Ks tend to be friendly, well-organised and cheaper than their big-city equivalents, with a strong club scene behind them: Loughborough, home to the country's best-known university for athletics, sits right in the middle of it. Spring and autumn are the busiest months, but summer evening 10Ks along the Trent and the Nene are a local speciality, and the Lincolnshire coast keeps racing into the winter.
