Carsington Water Trail Half Marathon & 10k
The event takes place at Carsington Water near Ashbourne on Saturday 5 December 2026. Races run on undulating trail paths around the reservoir with countryside views and marked kilometres.
- Half Marathon: out-and-back plus one full loop around the reservoir
- 10k: nearly one full loop of the reservoir
The half marathon records about 200 m of elevation gain. The course is marked with trail flags, A5 arrows and distance signs. Marshals will be positioned around the route and spectators and members of the public may also use the paths.
Entries include a themed finisher medal, chip timed results, free race photos, post race goodies and a bag drop. Water is available at set points and at the finish; the 10k has water at 5 km and the half marathon has water at miles 3, 6 and 9. Finish line photography is provided and timed results contribute to national rankings.
Race packs are not posted and must be collected at registration on the day. There is a secure baggage area at the venue. Toilets are located behind the visitor centre and at Millfields Car Park. Paid parking is available at the visitor centre and Millfields Car Park with differing short stay and whole day rates. The terrain makes the course unsuitable for wheelchairs or prams.
