The Dales Dash
The Dales Dash is a self-guided 6-mile trail run in the Peak District National Park that starts and finishes at Great Longstone Village Hall. The route follows the Monsal Trail, passes through historic railway tunnels and across Monsal Viaduct, then continues through Monsal and Cressbrook Dales. Terrain includes flowing trails, woodland, open farmland and some steep climbs and descents, with views across the Peak District.
Runners receive written route instructions on the day. There are no GPX files provided and no marshals on the course, so participants are responsible for their own navigation and safety. Participants will be timed out at the start and timed back in at the finish.
The event is organised under UK Athletics rules and offers a discount for UKA affiliated runners. Entry fees are listed as £5 for UKA affiliated runners and £7 for unaffiliated runners. The minimum age to take part is 18 or older. Dogs are not permitted on the route. Refunds will only be given if the race is cancelled.
Because weather and trail conditions in the Peak District can vary, participants are required to carry suitable waterproof and warm layers and a working mobile phone with the race director's contact saved.
