Moonriver - Night Race (9 January 2026)

Moonriver is a night-time fell race in the Dovedale valley, based at The Old Dog, Thorpe, DE6 2AT. The event date is 9 January 2026. Entry was by pre-entry only (no entry on the day). The event was marked as full; the online entry list showed 230 participants and the stated maximum capacity is 250 runners. Minimum age is 18. Pre-entry fees listed were £12.00 for FRA members and £14.00 for non-members. Team entries are allowed with separate men’s and women’s team prizes (three runners per team). Junior races are not held.

The course is 9.5 km with 345 m of climb. Terrain includes open fields, a rocky riverside trail, a woodland climb and undulating footpaths. The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association (FRA) and governed by FRA rules. Full FRA kit is required, including a headtorch; a spare headtorch and a mobile phone were recommended. The use of poles is not allowed. Registration takes place at The Old Dog pub; parking is available at the pub and nearby car parks.
