Sazón & Sneakers 5K
Sazón & Sneakers 5K in Lake Mary is the second annual 5K hosted by Spanish Girls Run, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization focused on community and inclusive fitness for Latinas, women of color, moms, and allies. The event marks the close of Hispanic Heritage Month and combines a timed 5K with community vendors, sponsor activations, and finisher medals.
Event distances and options include:
- 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles, registration fee $40
- Free Kids Fun Run, ages 10 and under, no fee
- Virtual option, registration fee $35
The course is USATF certified and is described by the organizer as fast and flat. Timing and scoring are provided with a disposable chip attached to the back of the race bib. Race capacity is capped at 500 participants.
Proceeds support several community programs, including the annual free women’s self defense seminar, Miles for Dignity for survivors, Meals for the Soul campaign providing meals for women in need, future scholarships for Latina women, and race fee sponsorships that help new runners participate.
