Course, logistics and purpose
The route goes into the park’s natural area on maintained but preserved trails. Participants may encounter uneven surfaces, leaves, branches and roots; "Caution-Tree Roots" signs will be posted. A 1K walk route will be marked; walkers may choose between the 1K or the full 5K route. A water station is located at the 1.50 mile marker on the 5K and water will also be available at the finish line; walkers are advised to bring water for their walk. Timing is provided by Beach Bum Timing. Leashed dogs are permitted under park rules; non-retractable leashes are preferred.
Proceeds support future land acquisition for the event organizer, The Environmental Conservancy of North Port, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that reports having permanently protected parcels in North Port and Charlotte County. Post-race snacks, information booths, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle will be held on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
