The Race to Conserve takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park, 6941 San Casa Drive, Englewood, FL 34224. Events include:
- 5K run (timed) - ages 8 and up only.
- 1K to 5K walk (not timed) - age 7 and under free.
Registration prices listed in the source are $30 for the 5K run ($20 for ages 0-18) and $25 for the walk ($0 for ages 0-7; $15 for ages 8-18). The deadline to be guaranteed an event shirt with registration is January 28, 2026. Packet pick-up date, time and location are to be announced. Timing for the 5K is provided by Beach Bum Timing.
Course, rules and additional information
The route goes into the park's natural area; trails are maintained but preserved in a natural state and may include uneven surfaces, leaves, branches and roots. "Caution-Tree Roots" signs will be posted and participants are advised to wear closed-toe footwear. A water station is located at the 1.50 mile marker of the 5K and water will be available at the finish line; walkers are asked to bring their own water for the walk route. Leashed dogs are permitted under park rules, with non-retractable leashes preferred.
Post-race snacks and information booths will be available. The event includes a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle (1 ticket $5, 5 tickets $10, arm's length for $20). Proceeds will be used toward future land acquisition purchases. In-person awards will be presented to 5K finishers by category and age group; the 1K walk is not timed and participants in that route will not receive a bib.
