Maine Community Bank Maine Marathon - Portland, Maine - October 4, 2026
The Maine Community Bank Maine Marathon is a multi-event road race produced by the Maine Track Club. The 2026 edition is the 35th running of the event. Runners can choose from these distances:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- Marathon relay
All events start and finish along Baxter Boulevard at Portland’s Back Cove. The course passes through tree-lined sections and offers ocean views and fall foliage along parts of the route. The race takes place in Portland, Maine, a city noted here for its artistic scene, historic character, and food and beer offerings. Portland is described as roughly two hours from Boston and served by direct flights from several US cities.
Charitable giving is a central feature of the event. Since 1997 the races and participants have raised more than $8,900,000 for charity. In 2025 the event donated $793,285 and reported that 40% of revenue was donated. The race is organized and supported by volunteers; more than 800 volunteers are needed each year and the 2025 event engaged over 900 volunteers.
