Lucky Dog 5k - Englewood
The Lucky Dog 5k – Englewood is a themed running and walking event held at Ann and Chuck Dever Regional Park in Englewood, Florida. The event aims to support animal shelters and charities, including the Florida Giant Dog Rescue. Participants can complete the course with or without a leashed pet.
The course consists of dirt and gravel paths that loop through two local parks. Runners and walkers start at Ann and Chuck Dever Regional Park and continue through Oyster Creek Park. The route is flat and lacks hills, though the ground may be uneven in some sections.
This event is professionally timed and scored. Registration for the live event includes several items:
- 5k - A timed run or walk through regional park landscapes.
Each participant receives a short-sleeve T-shirt, a finisher medal, and a chip-timed race bib. The finish line features treats for both human participants and dogs. Dogs do not require a separate registration to join their owners on the course.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Parking is available at the park, and organizers suggest carpooling. Packet pickup takes place on the day of the event at the park location.
