JWJ Birthday 5K and Block Party
The JWJ Birthday 5K and Block Party begins and ends at James Weldon Johnson Park in Jacksonville, Florida, located at 135 West Monroe Street. The event commemorates the 154th anniversary of James Weldon Johnson’s birth and travels through the LaVilla neighborhood, with historical information about his life placed along the route.

Race features include an official race shirt for each entrant, medals for all finishers, chip timing, overall and age-group awards, and team competition with corporate and open divisions. Corporate teams must consist of company employees; open teams may include clubs, families, or friends. Awards recognize top three overall men and women and three deep age-group placings across standard age divisions.
A post-race block party at the park follows the finish, featuring food trucks, music with a DJ, birthday cupcakes and celebratory refreshments. Packet pickup is available at 1st Place Sports store locations prior to race day; unclaimed packets will be available at James Weldon Johnson Park on race day.
