Event Overview
This is the 9th annual HALO's Chase Your Tail 5K Run/Walk, taking place on Saturday, April 18, 2026. The event raises awareness for no-kill animal rescue. Participants can run or walk the course with their dogs.

Location & Course
The event starts and is based at the Sebastian Community Center in Sebastian, Florida. The route travels along the Indian River.
Schedule & Registration
There is an early packet pickup and registration option on Friday, April 17th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the H.A.L.O. Adoption Center at the Indian River Mall in Vero Beach. Registration is also available on race day. The price is $35 in advance and $40 on race day. A team pricing discount is available for groups of four or more people registering together. Note that event shirts are not guaranteed for new registrations on race day.
Awards
Awards are given in several categories:
- Top Overall Male and Female
- Top three finishers in standard age groups from 9 & Under to 80+
- Top Dog (fastest person running with a dog)
- Fastest Pack (team), which must be co-ed and have four or more people
