Great Turtle Trail Run on Mackinac Island
The event takes place on Mackinac Island, Michigan, at One Lakeshore Drive on October 24, 2026. Races use interior trails and shoreline paths during the island's fall season and occur on the last open weekend of the season. The 2026 edition is the 30th anniversary of the event.
Available distances include:
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon
- 5.7 Miles Run
- 5.7 Miles Walk
- 13.2 Miles Half Marathon Virtual
- 5.7 Miles Virtual Race
Registration opens December 14, 2025 and closes March 31, 2026. A registration fee of $55.00 is listed for the events shown. The on-site half marathon has a course time limit of four hours. The 5.7 Mile Walk requires participants to walk the entire distance with no running allowed; that walk has no course time limit. The 5.7 Mile Run has no course time limit.
Virtual races allow completion of the distance at a location of the participant's choosing; organizers will mail the race bib and race swag and participants may post their results. The 5.7 Mile Virtual Race is noted as eligible for the Mackinac Island Trio. Registered participants receive an event garment, a commemorative Turtle medal, post-race goodies and event festivities.
