Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Run
The Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Run is a non-competitive running event that takes place on the Mackinac Bridge, a suspension bridge connecting Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas. It is the only running event held on this structure, which is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere.
The event offers a single distance:
- 4.3 miles
Participants run across the bridge while experiencing views of Mackinac Island and the Great Lakes. The course is approximately 4.3 miles and is not certified for distance. Because this is a fun run, the event is not chip timed and no official results are posted.
The field is limited to 700 participants. This is a running-only event, and walking is not permitted. All participants must be able to maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster. To register, runners are required to provide proof of their pacing ability through recent race results or data from a running application. Registration includes a technical t-shirt, a finisher medal, and a race bib. The event is organized by the Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
