Satchel's 6th Annual Get Your Mutt Movin' 5K
Satchel's 6th Annual Get Your Mutt Movin' 5K supports Satchel's Last Resort, a no kill animal rescue in Sarasota. The event takes place at Payne Park in Sarasota, FL, and features a 5K course described as flat with wide paths and sidewalks and staffed with course monitors to support walkers, runners and their pets.
The event includes in person and virtual participation options and a youth category for ages 17 and under. A fundraising option allows participants to raise at least $250 for Satchel's to receive a registration credit once the goal is met; fundraising tools are provided by the organizer.
Changes for 2026 include a new route that extends into the surrounding neighborhood while still starting and ending at Payne Park, and a revised reception area with music, refreshments and an award ceremony recognizing the top three winners in each category. Donations for cats and dogs will be collected at the Satchel's tent; donors receive a raffle ticket.
Activities immediately after the 5K include a lure course by Lucky Dog Lure Coursing, a canine agility course, a pie eating contest with prizes for category winners, and multiple raffles. Packet pickup is strongly encouraged the evening before at the New Balance Store on Stickney Point Road and will also be available on race morning at the race check in near the official starting line.
