Firecracker 5K - Bar Harbor

The Firecracker 5K in Bar Harbor is a road race held around the July 4 holiday. The course is described as flat and fast and covers a distance of 5K, finishing adjacent to the Bar Harbor ballfields where the Bar Harbor Rotary hosts a pancake breakfast featuring blueberry pancakes. The finish area is also near Independence Day parade activity.

The event benefits the Mount Desert Island YMCA. Registration opens May 1, 2027 and closes July 3, 2027. Online registration carries a fee of $20 and day of registration is $25 if spots are available. Bib pickup and race day registration take place at the MDI YMCA, 21 Park St, Bar Harbor, on race morning. There is no parking in the YMCA parking lot due to a craft fair.

The first 50 registered participants receive a patriotic race shirt. All finishers receive a prize. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
