Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest

Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest is a multi-distance trail event held on and around Blue Hill Mountain near the coastal town of Blue Hill, ME. The course uses a combination of field paths, Post Office Trail, Osgood Trail, Service Road trail, and a repeated figure eight loop on Mountain Road and surrounding trails. The mountain is a 934 foot monadnock conserved in large part by Blue Hill Heritage Trust; the Penobscot name for the mountain is Awanadjo and the event acknowledges the land as part of Wabanaki homeland.

Distances offered

  • 5k starting at Mountain Rd field with an upper loop and return to the field
  • 10k one upper loop plus a full figure eight and a second summit
  • 25k shorter upper loop followed by three full figure eight loops
  • 50k seven full figure eight loops

The race hub is at the start and finish with a main aid station offering hydration and a variety of snacks including vegan options and whoopie pies. A smaller aid station is located at the Post Office/Osgood/Mountain Rd intersection. Designated drop bags are available for 25k and 50k runners. Crews may station at Osgood/Mountain Rd for 25k and 50k; pacers are not permitted.

Packet pickup is scheduled on the Friday before the event at the Mountain Rd field, and an optional pre race meeting that will be live streamed on Instagram is planned that evening. Profits are transferred to Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Wabanaki Alliance. Fees are waived for Wabanaki Tribal Members and deferrals to the following year may be offered prior to July 15; refunds are not generally available.
