Event overview
Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest is a multi-distance trail event on Blue Hill Mountain in Blue Hill, Maine. Distances offered are:
- 50k
- 25k
- 10k
- 5k
Profits from the event are transferred to Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Wabanaki Alliance. Fees are waived for Wabanaki Tribal Members; participants should contact the organizer for a waiver code. All revenue is either reinvested in the race or donated. Registration opens January 1, 2026.
Course, support and logistics
The course starts in the Mountain Rd field and uses a figure-eight loop on Mountain Rd, Post Office Trail, Osgood Trail and the Service Road trail. The 5k includes a short out-and-back on Post Office Trail and one summit; the 10k includes two summit loops; the 25k is three full figure-eight loops after a shorter upper loop; the 50k is seven full figure-eight loops. Terrain includes fields of wildflowers, densely forested technical trail and coastal viewpoints.
The race hub at the start/finish serves as the main aid station with hydration and snacks, and there is a smaller aid station at Post Office/Osgood/Mountain Rd. Drop bags are available for 25k and 50k runners. Support crew may be stationed at Osgood/Mountain Rd for 25k and 50k runners; pacers are not allowed. Packet pickup is the evening before the race in the Mountain Rd field, with an optional pre-race meeting that will be live streamed on Instagram. The event is Trail Sisters Approved and includes equal podiums and awards, women’s apparel and menstrual products at aid stations, and a pregnancy and postpartum policy.
