About the race
The Pensacola Double Bridge Run is a coastal road race organized by Pensacola Sports that offers two measured courses and on-course services for participants.
- 15K
- 5K
The 15K course starts at Maritime Park in downtown Pensacola and travels over two bridges across Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound, passing the historic district, Bayfront Parkway, Gulf Breeze, and finishing at the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk parking lot. The 5K starts at 10 Daniel Street in Gulf Breeze, adjacent to the Gulf Breeze High School football field, and follows the route to Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island and the Gulf Islands Seashore. The 15K uses a corral start and has a 14-minute-per-mile pace requirement. No strollers, bikes, rollerblades, or dogs are allowed in either race.
Timing uses the IPICO electronic system with disposable chips in bibs; races are scored by net time for age-category awards while overall awards use gun time. Aid stations provide spring water, medical support, and portable toilets; the 15K has aid near the 2-, 6-, and 8-mile marks and the 5K has an aid station near 2 miles. On-course entertainment includes DJs and bands.
Gear check is available at both start areas; participants must use the clear bag provided at packet pickup and the event is not responsible for valuables. Packet pickup and the race expo occur on the Thursday and Friday before the race and include vendor booths. Participants receive a long-sleeve race shirt while supplies last and all finishers receive a commemorative medal. Cash awards are specified for the top five 15K finishers in each gender category and age-group and team awards are offered for the 15K; cash winners may be subject to drug testing. A post-race party at the boardwalk features food from local vendors and beverages; photo downloads are provided after the event by Street Safari. Alcohol service requires showing proof of age.
