14th Annual Captain James R. Minicozzi Memorial Race
The memorial race takes place in Downtown Scranton, PA on September 5, 2026 during La Festa Italiana. The event comprises a 5K run and a 1 mile fun walk that benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania Children’s Christmas Party and college scholarships at West Scranton High School.

Pre-registration is priced at $25 and has been extended through Thursday, September 3, 2026. Day of registration is available for $35. The first 100 registered participants are guaranteed a race t-shirt; the first 100 online registrants are guaranteed a voucher for a free Virtual Yin Yoga session.
On-site amenities include a water station located halfway along North Washington Avenue and water and fresh fruit at the main registration table. Runners will be paced by a lead vehicle provided by Dickson City Hyundai.
Awards recognize overall male and female finishers, the top three male and female finishers in each age group, and top overall walkers. Bonus prizes and a special Armed Service Award are part of the awards program; winners must be present to claim bonus prizes. Members of the race committee and family members are ineligible for trophies, medals, awards, or bonus prizes effective January 1, 2022. Age groups include 13 and under, 14 to 19, 20 to 30, 31 to 40, 41 to 50, 51 to 60, 61 to 70, and 71 and over. Awards are presented at the main band stand immediately following the race.
