Yorkshire 3 Peaks Trail Weekend 2027
This is a weekend trail running event in the Yorkshire Dales National Park based at the 3 Peaks Bunkroom in Horton in Ribblesdale. The bunkhouse has parking, a kitchen and rooms for up to six people, and sits on the route used for the weekend runs.
The main outing is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a round trip of 24 miles (38.6 km) with a total ascent of 1,585 m. The route visits the summits of Pen-y-Ghent (694 m), Whernside (736 m) and Ingleborough (723 m). The planned approach combines hiking the steeper sections with running on flats and descents.
A secondary run is a steady 10 km loop from the bunkhouse with about 269 m of elevation gain that follows sections of the Pennine Way.
The host provides guidance on trail running technique, fuelling and pacing throughout the weekend. The terrain is rugged and involves substantial elevation. Organisers recommend participants have completed a marathon or ultra within six months of the event and be able to sustain prolonged running at roughly 10 minutes per mile 6:15 min/km on flats and downhills. The event includes guided activity across outdoor trails and overnight accommodation at the bunkhouse. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
