Ranger Pen-Y-Ghent Ultra
The Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50 km is an organised trail ultra held in North Yorkshire with start and finish at Hawes Market House. The route follows established limestone trails along the Cam Road to Horton-In-Ribblesdale, includes a summit of Pen-y-Ghent, and returns along the Cam Road. Total distance is 50 km with total ascent of 1280 metres.
The event is run on marked trails with published cut off times and Ranger Ultras team support at multiple checkpoints. On-course provisions include water, snacks and hot soup at Kidhow Gate and Horton-In-Ribblesdale. Navigation course notes and a GPX file are supplied to entered participants in the lead up to the race. Finishers receive eco-coaster medals and there are awards for fastest male and fastest female.
Entries are limited to 50 and the minimum age is 20 on the event date. Entry fees are listed in affiliated and unaffiliated rates. A pasta or pizza food dish and hot drinks are provided at the race HQ for participants returning to the hall. The organiser publishes a compulsory minimum kit list covering clothing, footwear, navigation equipment, emergency shelter, lighting and basics such as fluids and personal first aid; participants are advised to review weather forecasts and carry additional items as needed.
