Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k
The Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k is an off road ultra running event based at Hawes Market House that follows the Cam Road to Horton-In-Ribblesdale, includes a summit of Pen-y-Ghent, and returns along the Cam Road. The course covers 50 km with 1280 metres of total ascent and is run on established limestone trails.
Entries are limited to 50 and the minimum age is 20. The event offers on course Ranger Ultras Team support, water stops with snacks, and hot soup at Kidhow Gate and Horton-In-Ribblesdale. Navigation course notes are available and a GPX file is emailed to entrants. There is a hot dinner and drinks for racers returning to the race HQ and finishers receive an eco-coaster medal. Prizes are offered for the fastest male and fastest female.
Race registration is available on the evening before the event and on the morning of the event. The organisers apply generous cut off times.
A compulsory minimum kit list applies to all competitors. Required items include a backpack, waterproof jacket with hood, insulating hat and gloves, warm layers, appropriate mountain footwear, hard copy Ordnance Survey map covering the route, baseplate compass, a primary head torch with a specified backup arrangement, whistle, emergency bivvy, sufficient food and fluids, first aid kit and a fully charged mobile phone with a standard UK SIM.
