Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k

The Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k is scheduled for Saturday 19th September 2026 with start and finish at Hawes Market House in North Yorkshire. The route covers 50 km with approximately 1,280 metres of ascent. The course follows established limestone trails and the Cam Road to Horton in Ribblesdale, includes the summit of Pen-y-Ghent, and returns along the Cam Road.

The event is limited to 50 entries and has a minimum age of 20 on the event date. Entries include Ranger Ultras team support at headquarters, road head and hill top locations, on course water stops with snacks, and hot soup at Kidhow Gate and Horton in Ribblesdale. Navigation course notes are available and a GPX file is emailed to entered participants. There are finishers eco coaster medals and prizes for fastest male and female.

Race registration is available on the Friday evening before the event and on the morning of the race. The organisers provide tea, coffee and a pasta or pizza style food dish at HQ for participants returning after the course. The HQ offers space for resting overnight but there are no showers on site.

A minimum compulsory kit list is enforced. Required items include a backpack, waterproof jacket with hood, insulating hat and gloves, warm layers, suitable mountain running footwear, hard copy map, baseplate navigation compass, a primary head torch plus a specified backup arrangement, whistle, emergency bivvy bag, sufficient food and fluids, first aid, a fully charged mobile phone on a standard UK network SIM, and a litter bag.
