Pen-Y-Ghent Ultra

The Pen-Y-Ghent 50 km Ultra is an autumn mountain trail race based in Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. The course is a straightforward out over Pen-Y-Ghent and back route with a total ascent of 1280 metres. The route is not waymarked beyond fixed finger posts; entrants receive a GPX file and navigation and course notes in advance.

The event is held under a Trail Running Association permit and follows England Athletics competition rules. Participants must be at least 20 years old on race day. On-course refreshments and checkpoints are provided. Race headquarters offers indoor resting space for participants, hot food and refreshments at the finish, and event hospitality. Finishers receive eco medals and winners receive bespoke eco-trophies. The event package includes the TRA permit fee and a donation to National Trails.

The village of Hawes provides local B&B accommodation, pubs and shops for visiting participants. Organisers supply a race brief and terms and conditions to entrants.
