Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k
The Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent 50k is a trail ultra starting and finishing at Hawes Market House. The route covers 50 km with approximately 1280 metres of ascent and follows the Cam Road to Horton-In-Ribblesdale, includes a summit of Pen-y-Ghent, then returns along the Cam Road. The course runs on established limestone trails through North Yorkshire scenery.
On-course support is provided by the Ranger Ultras team. Water, snacks and hot soup are available at Kidhow Gate and Horton-In-Ribblesdale. Navigation course notes and a GPX file are distributed to entered participants in the build up to the event. Pasta and hot drinks are provided at the finish. Finishers receive eco-coaster medals and there are first male and first female prizes.
Entries are limited to 50 participants. Minimum age is 20 or older. Entry fees are listed as £53 for affiliated runners and £55 for unaffiliated runners. The event uses generous cut off times and offers race registration on the evening before and on race morning.
A compulsory minimum kit list is enforced; required items include a backpack, waterproof jacket with hood, insulating hat and gloves, warm layers, suitable trail footwear, hard copy Ordnance Survey map(s), a baseplate navigation compass, head torch with backup or spare power, whistle, emergency bivvy bag, sufficient food and fluids, a first aid kit and a fully charged mobile phone on a standard UK network SIM.
