Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent Ultra
The Ranger Ultras Yorkshire Pen-Y-Ghent Ultra is a long-distance trail running event located in North Yorkshire. The route starts and finishes at the Hawes Market House and traverses terrain across classic limestone trails and historic paths. Participants follow the Cam Road toward Horton-In-Ribblesdale and summit Pen-y-Ghent before returning to the start point.
The event features a single distance:
- 50 km (with 1280 metres of total ascent)
The course is set on established trails and is designed with generous cut-off times. Support is provided by the Ranger Ultras Team at the race headquarters, road head, and hilltop locations. On-course support includes water, snacks, and hot soup at Kidhow Gate and Horton-In-Ribblesdale.
New entries receive navigation course notes and a GPX file via email prior to the event. Competitors are required to carry a mandatory kit including a backpack, waterproof jacket, insulating layers, a hard-copy map, and a navigation compass.
Upon returning to the race headquarters, participants are provided with hot drinks and a pasta or pizza meal. All finishers receive a medal, and awards are presented for the first male and female finishers. The race has a registration limit of 50 participants and an age requirement of 20 years or older.
