Yorkshire 3 Peaks 70/100km Ultra 2026 : overview
The event takes place Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th September 2026 in the Hawes area of North Yorkshire. It is organised by Rangers Expeditions & Ultras and is the 11th edition of this ultra-distance race. Entries open 15 September 2025 and close 11 September 2026. Entry is limited to 120 participants and the minimum age is 20. Entry fees listed are £68 (affiliated) and £70 (unaffiliated).
The main route starts and finishes at Hawes Market House and follows the Cam Road and the three peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. The core course is 70 km with a total ascent of 2,185 metres. Participants who complete the 70 km within the allotted 14-hour elapsed race time may continue on a free extra section of about +30 km (+984 m ascent) to make a 100 km total. Runners have a 24-hour elapsed race time to complete the 100 km.
Support, facilities and compulsory kit
On-course support includes Ranger Safety Team personnel at HQ, road heads and hill-top locations. Road heads provide water, soft drinks and snacks; hot soup is available on course. Indoor hall floor resting is available Saturday night for early finishers. A finish dinner and Sunday breakfast are provided. Finishers receive an eco-coaster medal and there are prizes for fastest places and age categories.
Competitors must carry specified kit. Minimum compulsory items include a backpack; waterproof jacket with hood; warm layers, hat and gloves; appropriate mountain/fell running footwear; hard-copy 1:25,000 OS map(s) and a baseplate navigation compass; head torch plus a spare; whistle; emergency bivvy bag; sufficient fluids and food; basic first-aid kit and personal medication; mobile phone with a standard UK SIM; and a litter bag.
