Event Overview
The Workington 5k Series comprises four individual 5k races, held on Wednesday evenings in May, June, July, and August. This listing is for the fourth race, held on August 19.
Venue and Logistics
The event is based at Workington Cricket Club, Earnest Valentine Ground, The Cloffocks, Workington. Participants should note there is no parking available at the cricket club itself. Registration takes place within the cricket club from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM on race day. Race numbers are collected at registration.
Course and Safety
The 5k course is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers. A specific route, "Route B," is used for this race. A full risk assessment, route maps, and the race permit will be displayed at the event headquarters. A safety briefing occurs at 6:55 PM. Medical support is provided by a named first aid associate, and there will be a lead cyclist and a sweeper runner for participant safety.
Timing and Awards
Results are provided by Timing Up North using chip timing. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers in each individual race. For the overall series, points are allocated across all four races. Participants must complete at least three races to qualify for overall prizes, which are awarded in five-year veteran age categories.
