Workington 5k Series
The Workington 5k Series consists of four separate 5 km running events held throughout the summer months. The fourth and final race of the series takes place at the Workington Cricket Club, located at the Earnest Valentine Ground in The Cloffocks. Participants have the option to register for individual races or the entire four-event series.
The course for this event is designated as Route B. This route is officially measured and certified for accuracy by the Association of UK Course Measurers. To ensure participant safety, a lead bike and a sweeper runner are present during the run, and first aid provision is available on-site. The race is conducted under UKA rules, with the risk assessment, route maps, and measurement certificates displayed at the event headquarters.
Registration and race number collection occur within the cricket club building. The event uses chip timing provided by Timing Up North to record results. Prizes are awarded following the race to the first three male and female finishers. Additionally, points are tracked across the series for overall prizes in five-year veteran age categories, provided the participant completes at least three of the four scheduled races.
The event site does not provide parking at the cricket club itself. All attendees are required to attend a safety briefing held shortly before the race begins. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
