Scafell Pike Trail Marathon
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a trail race in Keswick, Cumbria, held on 22nd August 2027. The course covers 44 Kilometres and follows trails over Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. The route is classified as hilly and runs once through the full course.
The course is marked from the start to Seathwaite. The mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause, Styhead and Seathwaite is unmarked; although it follows main trails, the ability to navigate this section is essential. Navigational devices are permitted and a route GPX file will be available to download. Participants unfamiliar with the area are advised to use such a device.
Participants must be prepared and equipped for mountain terrain and the weather at that time of year. Suitable clothing and footwear are recommended, and runners should carry sufficient personal nutrition and drinks for the full route. The event is not suitable for novice trail runners and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Facilities at Race HQ, Crow Park Lake Road, Keswick, include water, toilets and baggage storage. There are no distance markers, changing facilities or showers. Every competitor receives a bespoke medal and event photographs will be available to download. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers in the male and female categories and to first place in each age group category.
Entry is limited to 100 places with 90 places remaining. Affiliated entry is £52.00 and unaffiliated entry is £54.00. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entrants must be aged 18 or older on race day.
