Scafell Pike Trail Marathon : Keswick, Cumbria
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon takes place on Sunday 23rd August 2026 in Borrowdale and Keswick, Cumbria. The route covers 44 kilometres over trail terrain and includes a mountain section that reaches Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. Borrowdale is described in event materials as "the most beautiful valley in England."
The race starts at Lingholm and registration and the finish are at Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick CA12 5DJ. The course is a single lap with a hilly profile and an overall entry limit of 200 participants. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Course marking and navigation: the course is marked from the start to Seathwaite. The mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause and back to Styhead and Seathwaite is unmarked. Although the route follows main trails, the ability to navigate is essential on that section. Navigational devices are permitted and a GPX route file will be available to download.
Facilities and services listed for the event include water stations, toilets, baggage storage, and a coffee van on site selling drinks and cakes. There are no distance markers, no changing facilities, and no showers. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UK Athletics rules, and age restriction requires entrants to be 18 or older.
