Scafell Pike Trail Marathon
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a 44 kilometre trail race in Borrowdale near Keswick, Cumbria, on Sunday 23rd August 2026. The route includes mountain terrain and passes over Scafell Pike; Borrowdale is described as "the most beautiful valley in England".
The course is a single lap with a hilly profile and an overall trail surface. The route is marked from the start to Seathwaite. The mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause, Styhead and Seathwaite is unmarked; navigation ability is essential on that section. Navigational devices are permitted and a GPX file will be available for download.
Participants must be aged 18 or older on race day. Entry is limited to 100 places. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association with licence number 8626 pending and is held under UK Athletics rules.
Facilities at Race HQ, Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick CA12 5DJ, include water, toilets and baggage storage. There are no distance markers, no changing facilities and no showers. A coffee van will be on site selling hot and cold drinks and cakes.
Organisers advise participants to wear suitable clothing and footwear for mountain conditions and to carry sufficient personal nutrition and drinks for the full route. Every competitor receives a bespoke medal and event photographs will be available to download.
