Scafell Pike Trail Marathon
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a single-lap trail race centred on Borrowdale and Scafell Pike near Keswick, Cumbria. The course distance is 44 Kilometres and the profile is hilly, following mountain trails and main routes through the Borrowdale valley.
The marked course runs from the start to Seathwaite. The mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause and back to Styhead and Seathwaite is unmarked; navigation ability is essential on this section. Navigational devices are permitted and a GPX route file will be available to download. Organisers recommend participants carry suitable clothing, footwear, personal nutrition and drinks for the full route.
Facilities at the race HQ, Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick, include water, toilets and baggage storage. There are no distance markers along the route and there are no changing or shower facilities. A coffee van will be on site selling hot and cold drinks and refreshments.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association with TRA licence details pending and is held under UK Athletics rules. Entry is limited to 100 places and entrants must be aged 18 or older on race day. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers in the male and female categories and for first place in each age group.
