Scafell Pike Trail Marathon, Keswick, Cumbria
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a trail race held on Sunday 23rd August 2026 in the Borrowdale area near Keswick. The route covers 44 Kilometres and follows trail and mountain paths, with a generally hilly profile and a single lap.
The event starts at Lingholm and has registration and the finish at Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick. The course is marked from the start to Seathwaite. The central mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause and back to Seathwaite is unmarked; that section follows main trails but requires the ability to navigate. Navigational devices are permitted and a GPX file will be available to download.
Participants must be aged 18 or older on race day. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules. Entry is limited to 100 places; remaining places are listed on the event page. Affiliated entries are priced at £52.00 and unaffiliated entries at £54.00, with a possible additional fee for on-the-day entry if available.
Facilities at Race HQ include water, toilets and baggage storage. There are no distance markers, changing facilities or showers. Competitors are advised to carry sufficient personal nutrition and drinks and to wear suitable clothing and footwear for mountain terrain and weather. Medals are provided for all finishers, with prizes for top finishers and age-group winners. Event photographs will be available to download.
