Event Overview
The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a long-distance trail race located in Cumbria. The course covers a distance of 44 kilometres through the Borrowdale valley and over Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. The race starts at Lingholm, while the registration area and finish line are situated at Crow Park in Keswick.
Course Details
The route consists of a single lap over hilly mountain terrain. The course is marked from the starting point until Seathwaite. However, the mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, and Esk Hause is unmarked. Participants must possess navigation skills to traverse this specific high-altitude section, though the use of navigational devices and GPX files is permitted. The course then returns to a marked path from Seathwaite to the finish line.
Participant Requirements and Facilities
This event is restricted to runners aged 18 or older. While there is no qualification requirement regarding speed, the event is not suitable for novice trail runners due to the technical nature of the mountain trails. Participants are responsible for carrying their own nutrition and hydration for the duration of the race.

There are no changing facilities, showers, or distance markers on the course. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, and digital event photographs are provided after the race.
