Borrowdale Trail Half Marathon
The Borrowdale Trail Half Marathon is a 13 miles / 21 km trail race that finishes at Crow Park in Keswick. The start is at Lingholm and the finish, registration and event hub are at Crow Park. Registration is available the day before and on race morning at Crow Park.
The route follows a mix of lakeside trails, rocky singletrack, footpaths and bridleways. The course runs along the shore of Derwentwater, passes Hawse End Bay, the hamlets of Grange and Rosthwaite, and includes two main climbs through ancient oak woodland and alongside Castle Crag. After the climbs the route descends toward Watendlath, follows the Watendlath valley to Ashness Wood, passes Surprise View and Ashness Bridge, then returns along lakeshore trails past Friars Crag into Crow Park.
Navigation is managed with clear course markings and marshals at key points. A water station is located around 12.5 km and at the finish. Toilets are available at registration, the start area and the finish. A refreshment van will be at the finish area. Participants are advised to carry personal nutrition and appropriate clothing and footwear. Organisers will transport extra clothing from the start to the finish when needed. The race has a time limit of four hours.
The event holds a Trail Running Association permit (no. 8625) and will be held in accordance with UK Athletics rules. Prizes are awarded to the first three open men and women and to first place in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
