Event details

The Borrowdale Trail Half Marathon takes place in Keswick, Cumbria on 23 August 2026. The event distance is 21 km. It is organised by Fellside Events Ltd and is held under a Trail Running Association licence and UK Athletics rules. Registration and the finish are at Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick; the race start is adjacent to Lingholm, just outside Portinscale. Entry fees are listed as £32.00 (affiliated) and £34.00 (unaffiliated), with a stated option for on-the-day entry for an additional £3.00 if places remain. Competitors must be aged 17 or older on race day.

Course and facilities

The single-lap course is hilly with a total ascent of about 550 m. Surfaces include lakeshore trails, hard-packed rocky trails, grassy tracks and woodland singletrack. Notable locations on the route include Derwentwater shoreline, Castle Crag, Grange, Rosthwaite, Watendlath, Ashness Bridge, Great Wood and Friar's Crag. The event provides electronic chip timing, a hydration station on course and at the finish, qualified medical support and safety cover at checkpoints. Facilities at race HQ include toilets and a baggage store; there are no showers or changing facilities. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a customised race number.
