Winter Lights 5K

Event overview

The 14th Annual Winter Lights 5K takes place on December 6, 2025 in Pembroke, MA, centered at the Pembroke Community Center. The race is run on a closed loop course that starts and finishes at the community center and follows the town tree lighting. The event is held in darkness; headlamps or flashlights are required. Walkers are allowed and dogs are not permitted on the course.

All participants must be able to finish within 60 minutes; the course will close and timing will end after that limit. Awards are presented after the race for overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female, and for age-group places in the following brackets: 10 & under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

Logistics, registration and charity

Bib pickup is held at the Pembroke Community Center (Room 127) in the days before the race and on race day; someone else may pick up a bib with the registrant’s confirmation. Parking is at Pembroke Community Middle School with shuttle service to the start; runners may also be dropped off near the post office. There is no water stop on the course; water and snacks are available at the finish line. Volunteers are welcome and receive a complimentary future race.

Registration uses tiered pricing with early discounts and includes an offer of a long sleeve tech shirt for registrations completed by November 16. Race proceeds benefit the Pembroke Firehouse Pantry, which serves nearly 700 families and is a Massachusetts registered 501c3 organization (#001186919). The event listed 197 participants and reported $453.73 raised for the pantry.
