Wilderness Road Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K
The Wilderness Road Marathon takes place in Stanford, Kentucky, along the Historic Wilderness Road. The event coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States and serves to honor the United States Marine Corps. The course follows a historic route related to the establishment of Fort Logan and the expansion of the nation west of the Allegheny Mountains.
Participants travel an out and back route that begins and ends in downtown Stanford. The course passes significant historical landmarks, including the location of the first brick house west of the Allegheny Mountains, formerly owned by William Whitley. The event honors local historical figures such as Isaac Shelby, the first Governor of Kentucky, and Anthony Gale, the fourth Commandant of the USMC.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 26.2 Miles (Marathon)
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 6.2 Miles (10K)
Registration proceeds are designated to benefit the William Whitley House Endowment. Participation for this edition is limited to a total cap of 250 runners across all distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
