Rocket Blast Off 5K/2M
Rocket Blast Off is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at Brodhead Elementary School in Rockcastle County. The event includes a 5K Run and a 2 mile Walk, and proceeds benefit the Rockcastle County Kiwanis Club. All Rockcastle County students receive free registration.
The event will be chip-timed and race day packet pickup is available. Pre-registration through Monday, September 15 has a $20 fee and includes a race t-shirt. Registrations after September 15 are $25 and a t-shirt is not guaranteed.
Awards include overall male and female winners, the top three male and female runners in each of these age groups: 12 and under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80 and over. Separate awards are given to the top three fastest male and female walkers.
Student Strides 2026 is part of the series for students. All students aged 4 to 18 run free; no shirt is included but a shirt may be added for an additional fee. Students who complete at least seven races in the 2026 series will receive a $25 gift card and a custom t-shirt at the end of the series. Students must run or walk to be eligible for awards and incentives. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
