Wicked Wine Run at La Viña Winery
The Wicked Wine Run takes place at La Viña Winery/Vineyards, located in La Union, New Mexico, serving the El Paso, TX area. Established over 45 years ago, this venue is recognized as the longest-standing winery in New Mexico. The event combines athletic activity with a social atmosphere, featuring a course that winds through the scenic vineyard rows.
Participants can choose between two primary distances or participate in both:
- 5 km run or walk
- 1 km tasting walk
The 5 km event is timed with waves starting every few minutes, and participants have 90 minutes to complete the course. Runners receive a wine glass filled with wine and a finisher medal upon crossing the line. The 1 km walk is a non-competitive stroll featuring three tasting stations along the route, where participants receive one-ounce pours, followed by a fourth tasting at the finish.
All attendees, including spectators, must be 21 years of age or older. The event grounds include an after-party area with food trucks, live music, and various games. Organizers hold dance and costume contests, and participants are encouraged to bring blankets or foldable chairs to the site. On-site logistics include specific check-in areas for event shirts and pre-ordered merchandise, with water stations situated along the 5 km route.
