About the race
Iron Turkey is an annual Thanksgiving 5K held in El Paso, Texas, starting and finishing at Up and Running, 3233 N Mesa, El Paso, TX 79902. The event is a 5K (3.1 miles) road run with a field capped at 1,000 entries.
Registration fees increase by date: until August 31 the fee is $30, September 1 to September 30 $35, October 1 to October 31 $40, and November 1 to November 25 $45. All participants receive a long sleeve technical t shirt. Finisher medals are awarded and trophies are presented to the top three male and top three female finishers.
Age group awards are offered for these divisions: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 and over. Refreshments are provided at the finish area.
Packet pick up takes place at Up and Running on the two days before the race, and there is no race day registration or packet pick up. Proceeds from the event benefit UTEP Football. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
