W.C. Handy Festival DaDooRon Run
The event in downtown Florence includes a USATF-certified 5K course and a 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5K is chip timed by Race Ready Events and the course is certified (#AL25019JE). The course features rolling hills with grades under 10 percent.
There are two aid stations: a main aid area at the combined start/finish with hydration, first aid, snacks, and electrolytes, and an on-course station between mile 1 and 2 offering water and first aid. Packet pick-up is available before race day at a local running store and on race morning at the Burrell Slater School parking lot. Free parking is available near the start/finish area at the Burrell Slater School.
Awards include overall male and female, Masters (40+), GrandMasters (60+), and 1st through 3rd place in ten-year age groups. Registered runners who meet the t-shirt deadline are guaranteed a short-sleeve race shirt; shirts after the deadline are available while supplies last.
Strollers and well-socialized leashed dogs are permitted at the back of the pack. Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, wagons, and similar devices are not allowed on course.
