Event Overview
The Warhorse Gallop is a fundraising running event supporting Charles D. Owen High School Cross Country and the Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth, and Families. It takes place at Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
Events and Courses
The event consists of two separate races:
- Warhorse Gallop 5K: A multi-terrain course around the high school campus with mountain views. It begins and ends in the Owen High School Stadium.
- Pony Trot 1K Kids Run: A track event for children aged 10 and under.
Event Logistics
Packet pickup is on race day at the Charles D. Owen High School track and stadium. Parking is provided in the lower student parking lot, accessible from Lake Eden Road. Roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and pets are not allowed on the course.
Awards and Perks
Awards include medals and gift cards for the top three overall male and female 5K finishers. Additional medals are awarded to top male and female finishers in five age categories. The first 100 registrants receive a T-shirt, with size guaranteed for those who sign up before May 1. All participants are entered into a post-event prize drawing.
