Warhorse Gallop 5K and Pony Trot
The event is a fundraising running event held at Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain. Proceeds support Charles D. Owen High School Cross Country and the Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth, and Families. The course begins and ends at the Owen High School stadium and track and uses the school campus and nearby trails.
Distances:
- 5K Multi terrain course around the school campus and surrounding trails
- 1K Pony Trot for ages 10 and under on the Owen track
Packet pick up is available on race day at the Charles D. Owen High School track and stadium. Each packet includes a race bib and a wristband that can be redeemed for a T shirt for registrants who signed up before May 1; sizes are guaranteed for those registrants.
Registration fees are listed separately for each event. Registration closes on May 29. Each participant's race performance time will be posted after the race.
Awards include medals and gift cards for the top three overall male and female finishers and medals for top overall male and female finishers in these age categories: 12 and under; 13 to 19; 20 to 39; 40 to 54; 55 and over. Additional prize drawings will use participant bib numbers and include gift cards from local sponsors.
Participant parking is provided in the lower student parking lot accessed from Lake Eden Road with signage. For safety, roller blades, strollers, bicycles and pets are not allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
