Warhorse Gallop 5K and Pony Trot
The Warhorse Gallop 5K and Pony Trot is scheduled for May 30, 2026 at Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, NC. The event is a fundraiser for Charles D. Owen High School Cross Country and the Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth, and Families. The 5K follows a multi-terrain route around the high school campus and begins and ends at the school stadium. The Pony Trot is a 1K kids run held on the track for children ages 10 and under.
Race-day packet pick up will be available at the school and includes a race bib and a wristband that can be redeemed for a T-shirt for registrants who meet the event deadlines. T-shirts are provided to the first 100 registrants and size is guaranteed for those who register before May 1.
Awards are planned for the top three overall male and female finishers, with medals and gift cards. Medals will also be awarded to top overall male and female 5K finishers in the following age categories: Ages 12 and under; Ages 13 to 19; Ages 20 to 39; Ages 40 to 54; Ages 55 and over. Each bib will be entered in a post-event prize drawing. Participant parking will be in the lower student parking lot accessed from Lake Eden Road.
