Beer City 20k Relay and 5k in Asheville
The Beer City event at New Belgium Brewing in Asheville offers team relay and individual race options on a measured 5k loop. The course is an out and back along the West River Arts District Greenway with a single water stop at the turnaround near the French Broad River Park. The start and relay exchange are at New Belgium Brewing, 21 Craven Street.
Race formats include:
- Team of 4 each run one 5k leg
- Team of 2 each run two 5k legs for a 10k
- Single 5k one loop
- Single 10k two loops
Every registered runner receives a race t shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing, and a beer or nonalcoholic option for participants 21 and over. There are no age group awards; fastest teams and the fastest male and female 5k and 10k finishers receive gift certificates from the event prize sponsor. The event donates two dollars from each entry to Consider Haiti.
Dogs and other animals are not allowed on course for safety and insurance reasons; service animals may run with prior approval and documentation. Strollers are permitted but should start near the back and keep to the right on the greenway. Packet pickup is available Friday at Mountain Running Company and Saturday morning at New Belgium Brewing. Street parking and a dirt lot at the Craven Street Bridge are available; New Belgium lots are not available for event parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
