Cancer Active Trail Race
The Cancer Active Trail Race takes place in Black Mountain, North Carolina. This event is organized by Cancer Active, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients in maintaining active lifestyles during and after treatment. All proceeds from the event support projects such as patient self-assessment series and connecting patients with fitness coaches.
Participants can choose from the following event formats:
- 5k Trail Race
- Virtual 5K
The 5k course starts and finishes at 191 Vance Avenue, located near Pulliam Stadium. The route predominantly uses designated trails, and runners are required to stay within the marked boundaries and follow the instructions of course volunteers stationed at major intersections. The race is not chip timed; however, prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers.
Event logistics include a packet pickup held the day before at Mountain Running Company and a morning pickup at the start area on race day. An aid station equipped with a small first-aid kit is available on the course, and medical professionals are stationed at various points to provide assistance. Registered participants receive a race t-shirt, though size and style availability may vary for late registrants. Spectators are permitted along the majority of the route as long as they do not interfere with participants.
The venue is located near downtown Black Mountain and is accessible from Interstate 40. Parking is provided adjacent to the start line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
