Cancer Active Trail Race : Montreat / Black Mountain, NC
This event is organized by Cancer Active and will take place in the Montreat/Black Mountain, North Carolina area with activities centered on Rainbow Mountain Trail in Montreat. The 2026 edition has been changed from its usual course; the gathering will be a community 3 to 4 mile hike on Rainbow Mountain Trail.
The trail includes steady to steep inclines on the ascent and a slippery descent. The format emphasizes communal outdoor movement and connection rather than competitive racing. Participants may choose to record or time their own effort through UltraSignup; others may participate informally with the group.

All registered 5K and virtual 5K entrants who register before the deadline will receive a race t-shirt. Those who register after the deadline or on event day will also receive a shirt but may need to accept an alternative size or style. Registration closes on Fri, May 15 at 11:59 PM ET.
Transfer, withdrawal, and deferral options are available within stated timeframes; refunds will not be issued. Proceeds from the event support Cancer Active projects, including patient self-assessments, healthcare support, and connections to patient focused fitness coaches.
