Haw Creek Hustle
The Haw Creek Hustle is a community running event held in the Haw Creek area of East Asheville. This third edition of the event is hosted by the Haw Creek Community Association and serves as a fundraiser for local community projects and the restoration of Charlie Bullman Park. The races start and finish at Charlie Bullman Park.
Two distances are available for participants:
- 5K
- Fun Run
The 5K course follows a counter-clockwise route primarily on quiet roads within the Haw Creek neighborhood. For safety, volunteers are stationed at every turn, signs mark the route, and police are present at major intersections. A single water station is located at the approximate halfway point of the course. The Fun Run takes place around Charlie Bullman Park and utilizes the trails of the Evergreen Charter School.
The event uses chip timing with sensors attached to the race bibs. Participants in the 5K receive a custom race shirt, while those in the Fun Run receive a prize at the finish line. Water and light snacks are available after the race. The venue provides two large parking lots for attendees. Well-behaved dogs on short leashes with valid vaccinations are permitted to participate.
